We visited a dog-mushing camp on a glacier in the Tordrillo Mountains of Alaska. In the summer they work the sled dogs up here. This is Bailey, a lovely Alaskan Husky. Alaskan Huskies have historically participated in the Iditarod Race, a long-distance sled race that runs in early March each year. In 1925, an outbreak of diphtheria threatened the western coastal community of Nome, Alaska. Teams of mushers and their hard-driving sled dogs delivered the serum from Anchorage to the citizens of Nome. The Iditarod honors the achievements of those mushing teams. Trimble Glacier, Alaska.
