This Black Bear (Ursus americanus) spring cub had a tough morning. It rained heavily early, and his mother left him in this tree while she foraged for food. He was sleeping in the lower branches when another larger bear woke him up. He moved up a few feet in the tree and went back to sleep. When he awoke about 30 minutes later, he noticed the photographers, and found a clear spot to asses the threat. Once he determined we weren't going to bother him, he went right back to sleep.
