in the Lamar River.  A small group of North American River Otters (Lontra canadensis) was playing in and around the point where the Yellowstone River merges with the Lamar River.  Naturally, this caused a commotion among the humans as about 50 photographers trudged up and down the road - barely observing safety precautions - to try to get a photo of the otters.  We decided to stay safe, stay sane and remain in one turnout relatively close to the river.  Sure we missed some shots, but when these two poked their heads up right in front of us we felt rewarded.
