Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge, just south of Socorro, New Mexico, offers a spectacle of thousands upon thousands of Snow Geese, Sandhill Cranes and other water birds, which migrate down from northern Canada, Alaska and elsewhere in the Arctic to winter here. The birds typically fly in to the ponds in the evening and spend the night in the deeper water to avoid predators.
